The FedEx triggers and list fees

| Ground Unauthorized Package Charge | Length 108 in; length + girth 165 in; weight 150 lb | $1,875 per package |
Volume is length x width x height. Length + girth is length plus 2 x height plus 2 x width, with any fraction of an inch rounded up (FedEx Terms, p. 158). FedEx rates the Additional Handling dimension charge on the greater of actual or dimensional weight with a 40 lb minimum billable weight, and Oversize and unauthorized packages with a 90 lb minimum. The Service Guide marks the 10,368 cu in, 17,280 cu in and 110 lb tests as effective January 12, 2026.
Edge: 45 x 15 x 15 in is exactly 105 in length + girth, so it does not trigger the dimension charge; 45 x 15 x 15.01 does.
What the amounts are and are not
Amounts are the standard list charges printed in the FedEx Service Guide (effective January 5, 2026, updated September 11, 2026), before any discount in your agreement, before fuel surcharge, and without any Demand surcharge, which FedEx publishes separately for set periods. The guide passages cited do not say how overlapping charges combine, so this tool lists each charge it finds and does not add them. FedEx may also reclassify a package whose dimensions change in transit.

FAQ
What is the FedEx additional handling surcharge for size?
The Service Guide applies it when a package is over 48 inches on its longest side, over 30 inches on its second-longest side, over 105 inches in length and girth, or over 10,368 cubic inches. The 2026 list fee runs from $29.50 in zone 2 to $40.75 in zones 7 and up.
When does FedEx charge oversize?
An Oversize Charge applies when a package is over 96 inches long, over 130 inches in length and girth, over 17,280 cubic inches, or over 110 pounds. The 2026 list fee is $255 in zone 2 up to $330 in zones 7 and up.
What is the maximum FedEx package size and weight?
FedEx lists 150 pounds, 119 inches in length and 165 inches in length and girth for U.S. packages. FedEx Ground and Home Delivery packages over 108 inches long, 165 inches in length and girth, or 150 pounds are unauthorized.
Do these amounts include my discount?
No. They are published list amounts. Accounts with an agreement can have different surcharge terms, and fuel and Demand surcharges are extra.
