Robots meta tag checker.
Paste a page's HTML. The tool reads every robots, googlebot and other crawler meta tag, checks each directive against Google's documented list and tells you whether the page ends up noindex or nofollow.
Input
Result
Paste the page HTML, then press Check.
How the robots meta tag checker works
The tool finds each <meta name="robots|googlebot|googlebot-news|bingbot..."> tag, splits content on commas, and checks every directive against the list in Google's robots meta documentation. Names and values are case-insensitive, as Google states.
Worked example
Click Load example. The robots tag has index, follow, max-image-preview:huge, noarchive and the googlebot tag has noindex, max-snippet:abc. Result: huge and abc are invalid (fix), noarchive is ignored by Google (note), index, follow are defaults, and the page is noindex because Google combines the negative rules of the generic and googlebot tags.
Directives recognised
all, noindex, nofollow, none(same as noindex, nofollow),nosnippet,indexifembedded,notranslate,noimageindex.max-snippet:N(whole number, -1 means no limit),max-video-preview:N,max-image-preview:none|standard|large,unavailable_after:date.noarchive,nocacheandnositelinkssearchboxare flagged as ignored by Google Search.
Only robots, googlebot and googlebot-news are read as Google tokens; other crawler names are listed but do not change the Google result. The X-Robots-Tag HTTP header is not part of the HTML and cannot be checked here. A page blocked in robots.txt is not crawled, so Google never sees its meta tag.

Robots Meta Tag Checker FAQ
What does noindex do?
It tells Google not to show the page in Search results. Google must be able to crawl the page to see the tag, so do not also block it in robots.txt.
What if the robots and googlebot tags disagree?
Google combines the negative rules. A robots tag with nofollow plus a googlebot tag with noindex means Googlebot treats the page as noindex, nofollow.
Are index and follow valid?
They are not in Google's list of rules. Indexing and following are the default, so they change nothing; the tool reports them as defaults rather than errors.
Is noarchive supported?
Google lists noarchive as not used for Search, and the tool marks it as ignored. Other search engines may treat it differently.
Can it read X-Robots-Tag headers?
No. That is an HTTP response header. Check it with curl -I or Search Console URL Inspection.
