Australia GST threshold tracker.

Enter your monthly GST turnover and a projection for the next 11 months to see whether you have reached the $75,000 GST registration threshold.

The ATO says you reach the GST threshold when your current GST turnover (this month plus the previous 11) or your projected GST turnover (this month plus the next 11) is $75,000 or more, or $150,000 for non-profit organisations. This tracker tests both.

Worked example

A seller has A$6,500 of GST turnover in each of the last 12 months, A$78,000 in all. The current test is “$75,000 or more”, so the seller is A$3,000 over and has reached the threshold. If instead the last 12 months were A$70,000 but the seller expects A$5,500 this month plus A$75,000 over the next 11, the projected total is A$80,500 and the projected test is met.

Frequently asked questions

What is the GST registration threshold in Australia?

The ATO threshold is $75,000 of GST turnover for most businesses and $150,000 for non-profit organisations. You may register voluntarily below it.

Is it a financial year or a rolling 12 months?

Rolling. The ATO tests the current month plus the previous 11 months, and separately the current month plus the next 11 months, so check every month.

How long do I have to register?

business.gov.au says within 21 days of becoming aware your GST turnover will go over the threshold.

Do overseas sellers use the same threshold?

The ATO’s page for selling to Australia uses the same $75,000 figure, counting only sales connected with Australia. See the digital goods guide linked below.

Does this connect to the ATO?

No. It applies the published test to numbers you type in and stores nothing.

Not tax advice

This tool compares numbers you enter with thresholds published by the tax authority named on the page. It runs in your browser, stores nothing and does not decide your tax status. Thresholds change; confirm with the authority or a qualified adviser.
