Rotate & flip.

Rotate 90°/180°, set a custom angle, or flip horizontally/vertically. Live preview, instant download.

How to rotate or flip an image

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image. A preview appears straight away.
  2. Press a button to turn it a quarter turn counter-clockwise or clockwise, or half a turn with the 180 degree button. Each press stacks on the last.
  3. Use Horizontal or Vertical to mirror the picture left to right or top to bottom.
  4. For a small correction, such as levelling a skewed horizon, drag the Custom angle slider to the number of degrees you need.
  5. When the preview looks right, press Download image. Reset to original undoes every change.

When each action is the right one

A quarter turn fixes the most common problem: a photo that was taken with the phone held sideways and opens lying on its side in software that ignores the camera's orientation flag. A 180 degree turn rescues an upside-down scan. Mirroring is useful when text in a selfie appears backwards, when you need the left-hand and right-hand versions of a graphic, or when a design reads better with the subject looking into the page rather than out of it.

Custom angles are for fine adjustments. Rotating by anything other than a multiple of 90 degrees creates corners that did not exist in the original, so expect the canvas to grow slightly or those corners to be filled. For a tidy result, make small corrections of a degree or two and crop afterwards with the image cropper.

The picture never leaves your device

Rotation and flipping happen on a canvas in your own browser, inside an isolated frame that cannot make network requests. The file is not uploaded, there is no queue or account, and the advertisements on this page are outside the frame and cannot see what you are editing.

Questions people ask

Does rotating lose quality?

Turning by 90, 180 or 270 degrees only rearranges pixels, so nothing is lost beyond the normal cost of saving a JPEG again. Other angles require the browser to resample the picture, which can soften fine detail slightly.

Why does my photo still look sideways elsewhere?

Some programs obey the hidden orientation tag in a photo and others do not. The download from this page has the rotation applied to the pixels themselves, so it should look the same everywhere.

Can I rotate several images at once?

This tool works on one image at a time. Run it again for each file.
