Quit Smoking and Nicotine Math
Quit smoking savings tracker.
Enter the date you quit, how many cigarettes you smoked a day and what a pack cost. The tool counts whole days smoke-free and what you have not smoked or spent since. It uses your device date, so open it any day to see the new total. Runs in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.
Not medical advice. This tool does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. Talk to a doctor, pharmacist or quit coach before you change how you quit. In the US you can call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669); in Canada call 1-866-366-3667 toll-free to talk to a quit coach.

Worked example
Quit on 1 September 2026 and check on 8 October 2026: that is 37 days smoke-free. If you smoked 10 a day and a pack of 20 cost $15, you have not smoked 370 cigarettes (18.5 packs) and have not spent $277.50, which is $52.50 a week.
How it works
days = whole calendar days from your quit date to today. Cigarettes not smoked = days x cigarettes per day. Money saved = cigarettes not smoked x (pack price / cigarettes per pack). It assumes you would have kept smoking at the same rate and price. It does not count a slip; if you smoke again, enter your new quit date.
Sources and basis (opened 2026-10-08): Arithmetic on the numbers you enter and on your device clock. No prices are assumed; the $15 pack is an example. Quitline numbers: Speak to a Quit Smoking Counselor, Smokefree.gov (1-800-QUIT-NOW) and Quitting smoking: Provincial and territorial services, Health Canada (Canada.ca) (1-866-366-3667), both opened 2026-10-08.

FAQ
How do I count days smoke-free?
Count whole calendar days from the day you quit to today. The tool does this with your device date, so the total moves up each day you open it.
How is money saved worked out?
Days smoke-free x cigarettes per day x the cost of one cigarette. At 10 a day and $0.75 each, 37 days is $277.50.
What if I had a slip?
The tool cannot know. Many people restart the count at their new quit date; a clinician or quit coach can advise on what to do after a slip.
Does it store my quit date?
No. Nothing is saved or sent. Bookmark the page and re-enter your date, or keep the date in your own notes.
Does the saving include other costs?
No. It counts only the cigarettes you would have bought.
