How it is calculated

Transaction fee: Basic 2%, Core, Plus and Advanced 0% on physical products, services and donations. Digital products: Basic 7%, Core 5%, Plus 1%, Advanced 0%. Squarespace Payments domestic card rate: 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic and Core, 2.7% + $0.30 on Plus, 2.5% + $0.30 on Advanced (Canadian rates in CAD). Tax-calculation add-ons are not included.

Currency. The Shopify and Squarespace pages we read were served in Canadian dollars; the BigCommerce and WooCommerce pages in US dollars. The calculator does not convert silently: enter today's USD rate to compare in your currency, or leave it at 1.00 to treat every amount as one currency. Prices exclude tax and change often, so confirm on the vendor page before you buy.

Not modelled: sales tax, themes, apps and paid extensions (except where you enter them), currency-conversion and international-card surcharges, disputes, instant payouts, volume discounts, negotiated rates, Shopify Plus and BigCommerce Performance (custom or enterprise pricing). This is an estimate, not a quote. Squarespace's help center says its Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced plans are rolling out in waves, so your account may still show legacy plans.

What is the Squarespace transaction fee?

On the Basic plan Squarespace charges 2% of physical, service and donation sales; Core, Plus and Advanced charge 0%. Digital products carry 7%, 5%, 1% and 0% on Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced.

Is the transaction fee on top of card processing?

Yes. The transaction fee is charged by Squarespace; the card rate is the payment processor's fee and is charged separately.

Which Squarespace plan is cheapest for selling online?

Compare the totals in the table. A higher plan costs more per month but removes the transaction fee and lowers the card rate, so it wins once sales are high enough.
