Fundraiser Profit Calculator: how it works

Sales = items sold x price. Your group keeps its share percentage of sales (the rest goes to the fundraising company), then subtracts any costs it pays itself. Profit per participant is that net divided by the participants. Items needed for a goal = (goal + costs) / amount kept per item, rounded up.

Worked example. 400 items at $12.00 are $4,800.00 in sales. At a 40% share your group keeps $1,920.00 ($4.80 per item). After $50.00 of costs the profit is $1,870.00, or $93.50 for each of 20 participants. To reach a $3,000 goal you would need 636 items.

Use your contract’s numbers. The share your group keeps is set by the fundraising company’s order form or contract; enter that figure. This is arithmetic on your inputs only.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a fundraiser make?

It depends on your group’s share. At a 40% share, each $12.00 item returns $4.80, so 400 items return $1,920.00 before costs.

How do I find the share my group keeps?

Check the order form or contract from the fundraising company. It states the percentage of each sale your group keeps.

How many items do we need to reach our goal?

Add your costs to the goal and divide by the amount kept per item. For a $3,000 goal with $50.00 of costs that is 636 items.

Should I include shipping or prizes?

Only if your group pays them. Put those costs in the costs field so the profit shown is what your group really keeps.
