Percent to grams: formula batch scaler.

Type each ingredient as a percentage of the batch. Get the grams to weigh out, what the batch costs and what each filled unit costs.

Grams = percentage / 100 x batch size. A 2% ingredient in a 500 g batch is 10 g. Formulas are written by weight, so weigh on a scale rather than measuring by volume.

Scaling without errors

Enter the formula once as percentages and change only the batch size. The percentages should add up to 100; if they do not, the tool shows the total so a typing slip is caught before you weigh anything.

The cost uses each ingredient price per kilogram, so a 1% ingredient priced at $60 per kg costs $0.30 in a 500 g batch. Units filled come from the batch weight after the pot-loss allowance divided by your fill weight, rounded down, because you cannot sell part of a unit.

The example values are placeholders to show how the page works. They are not a recommended recipe.

What this does not check: preservation, stability, pH, safe usage levels, labelling or whether a product may be sold where you live. Those depend on the product and the regulator, such as the FDA in the United States or Health Canada in Canada. Use the cosmetic expiry calculator for shelf-life dates.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored.

FAQ

How do I convert a percentage formula to grams?

Multiply each percentage by the batch weight and divide by 100. The calculator does this for up to eight ingredients.

Why should the percentages add to 100?

A formula written as percentages describes the whole batch. If the total is off, either an ingredient is missing or a figure was mistyped.

Does this tell me a formula is safe?

No. It only scales amounts and costs. Safety, preservation and legal limits are separate checks you must make for your product.
