Candle makers
Candle cost per candle and price.
Add up every material and the time it takes, then price the candle for the margin you want, at retail and at wholesale.
Price = cost / (1 - target margin). If a candle costs $6.00 to make and you want a 60% margin, the retail price is $15.00. At half of retail wholesale, you would sell it for $7.50 and earn $1.50.

What is in the cost
Wax and fragrance oil are costed by weight from the pack you actually buy, so a price change in a 10 lb pour pack flows straight through. Wick, container and packaging are per-candle amounts, and labour is minutes times your own hourly value so your time is not treated as free.
Margin is the share of the price that is profit, which is different from markup. A 60% margin is a price 2.5 times cost. If the wholesale line shows a loss, either raise retail, lower the wholesale share or cut cost before you take wholesale orders.
Work out your pour quantities with the candle wax and fragrance oil calculator, or compare markup views with the wholesale markup and keystone calculator.

FAQ
How much should I sell my candles for?
Start from your real cost per candle and divide by one minus the margin you want. Then compare with what similar candles sell for locally before you settle on a price.
Should I count my own labour?
Yes. If you leave it out, the price only works while you work for nothing. Enter an hourly figure you would accept.
What is a normal wholesale share?
Many makers use about half of retail, but it varies. The share is an input so you can test your own terms.
