How Amazon MCF charges

Multichannel Fulfillment lets you use Amazon's warehouses and carriers to ship orders placed on your own store or another marketplace. Amazon's rate card lists a fee per unit for pick, pack and ship. It depends on the product's size tier, its shipping weight, the delivery speed and how many units are in the customer's order: one, two, three, or four and more. Amazon's pricing page says multi-unit orders earn volume discounts of up to 50% off the per-unit fee, which you can see by changing the order units above.

Several add-ons sit on top. The card adds $0.11 per unit for lithium batteries. A 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge applies to US MCF fulfillment fees. Orders to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands carry a remote-area surcharge of 100% for standard-size items and 200% for large bulky and extra-large items, applied after the lithium fee. Returns have their own per-unit fee by size and weight.

Which rate card this is

The figures are Amazon's holiday peak card, effective October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027. It is the card in force on the date checked. After January 14, 2027 Amazon's rates change, and the page shows a warning if today's date falls outside that window. Standard and Prime delivery list the same fees on this card; expedited is higher.

Worked example

One small standard unit of 0.4 lb on standard delivery in a one-unit order has a card fee of $7.71. The 3.5% surcharge adds $0.27, so the fee is $7.98 per unit. If the same product is in a four-unit order the card fee drops to $3.92 per unit, which is $4.06 with the surcharge. At a $30 price, $8 cost, 3% channel fee, $1 other cost and a 5% return rate at a $3.35 return fee, one-unit orders leave about $11.95 per unit before tax.

What this does not cover

• Discounts: Ships in Product Packaging, Preferred Pricing, the new seller incentive and promotions are not applied.
• Storage, inbound, labelling and other FBA fees, which Amazon says match FBA.
• Canada, the UK and other marketplaces; this is the US card only.
• Dimensional weight. You enter the shipping weight yourself, and per-pound charges are rounded up to whole pounds, which is our assumption.
• Rates outside October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027.

Methodology

Fee = card fee for the tier, weight band, speed and order units; plus the lithium add-on; plus 3.5% of that sum; plus the remote-area percentage of that sum. The 3.5% base is our reading, since the card does not specify beyond fulfillment fees. Profit per unit = price − channel fee − cost − other cost − MCF fee − return rate × return fee.
