Import de minimis threshold checker.
See whether a low-value parcel is exempt from customs duty in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada or the European Union.
Short answer (as of 30 September 2026): the US $800 exemption is suspended, the EU’s EUR 150 exemption ended on 1 July 2026 and was replaced by a temporary EUR 3 per-item duty, the UK still has a GBP 135 customs-duty relief, and Canada’s mail relief is CAD 20 (CAD 60 for gifts). This is a planning aid, not customs advice.

Worked example
A GBP 100 non-excise purchase sent to Great Britain is at or under GBP 135, so no customs duty is charged, but VAT still applies because only gifts worth GBP 39 or less are VAT-free. A EUR 100 order of three items sent to the EU now carries the temporary EUR 3 per-item duty: EUR 9.00 if each counts as one item. A CAD 200 gift mailed to Canada is assessed on CAD 140, per CBSA’s own example.
Rules and sources
Values are compared in the currency each rule is written in; there is no exchange-rate conversion. Every row was read on 30 September 2026.
- United States: de minimis ($800) indefinitely suspended for all modes including postal, unless excepted under a separate authority; new mail informal entry process from 24 July 2026. CBP E-Commerce FAQs, page last modified 2 September 2026.
- United Kingdom: no charge on non-excise goods worth GBP 135 or less; excise goods taxed at any value; VAT not charged on gifts of GBP 39 or less. GOV.UK, Tax and duty on goods sent from abroad; the page shows no update date.
- Canada: mailed items worth CAD 20 or less owe no duty or tax; gifts worth CAD 60 or less owe none; the two cannot be combined. CBSA, importing goods by mail or courier, date modified 25 November 2025.
- European Union: from 1 July 2026 the EUR 150 exemption is abolished and a temporary EUR 3 customs duty per item applies to low-value consignments up to EUR 150, until 1 July 2028; a Union handling fee is scheduled from 1 November 2026. European Commission, EU customs reform.
What this does not cover
Australia is left out because the Australian Border Force page could not be opened when this tool was built, and no figure is stated without a source. Canada’s courier low-value rule and any CUSMA threshold are not shown for the same reason. Sales taxes, brokerage, carrier fees, prohibited goods, additional tariffs and country-of-origin measures are separate from these thresholds.
FAQ
Is the US $800 de minimis rule still in force?
CBP’s E-Commerce FAQs say the exemption has been indefinitely suspended for merchandise valued at $800 or less by all modes, unless specifically excepted under a separate authority.
Does the EU still have a EUR 150 duty-free limit?
Not for customs duty. The Commission says the exemption was abolished from 1 July 2026 and replaced, temporarily, by EUR 3 per item on consignments up to EUR 150.
Does the UK GBP 135 limit also remove VAT?
No. GOV.UK says VAT is not charged only on gifts worth GBP 39 or less.
Does my entry leave my browser?
No. The check runs locally and nothing is transmitted or stored.
