Rates and assumptions

Gross pay is rate × hours × weeks; overtime, shift premiums and holiday pay are not added separately. The tax rules are those on the Ireland take-home pay calculator page. Not modelled: tax credits other than the personal and Employee Tax Credit (for example rent, home carer or medical credits), two-income married couples (their bands can be shared), the single parent child carer band, Budget 2027 changes that apply to later tax years, benefit in kind, share schemes, and the exact week-by-week treatment of pay periods in payroll. Pay is treated as a flat 52 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

How much is €20 an hour after tax in Ireland?

For a single person working 39 hours a week for 52 weeks, about €33,934.02 a year after income tax, USC and PRSI, or roughly €2,827.83 a month.
