How it works
- On-device: your file is re-encoded in the browser and never uploaded to a server.
- How it shrinks: each page is re-rendered as a compressed JPEG image at a slightly reduced resolution, then reassembled into a new PDF. This works best on scanned documents and image-heavy PDFs.
- Trade-off, stated plainly: because pages become images, text is no longer selectable or searchable in the output. If you need to keep selectable text, this isn't the right tool for that file.
Free vs Premium
Free compresses up to 5 pages at a balanced setting. Premium removes the page limit and lets you choose the compression level.
