How the math works
Pre-dilution ABV = sum(volume × ABV) ÷ sum(volume). Dilution water is then added as a percentage of the ingredient volume, so final volume = ingredient volume × (1 + dilution) and final ABV = ethanol volume ÷ final volume.
Ethanol mass uses 0.789 g/mL. One standard drink is 14 g of pure alcohol in the US and 13.45 g in Canada. Mixing ethanol and water shrinks the total volume slightly; this tool ignores that contraction, so real ABV can differ by a fraction of a point. Liqueur, vermouth and juice ABVs come from the label, and citrus and syrups are entered at 0% or their label value.

- NIAAA: What is a standard drink? states that a US standard drink contains 14 grams (about 0.6 fl oz) of pure alcohol.
- Health Canada: Low-risk alcohol drinking guidelines states that a Canadian standard drink is 17.05 mL or 13.45 grams of pure alcohol.
The 0.789 g/mL ethanol density and the dilution presets are stated assumptions, not published limits. This page is a local arithmetic aid.
