Alberta's minimum wage is $15.00 an hour and has been since 1 October 2018. Alberta does not index the rate and no increase has been announced.
A $13.00 student rate applies to students under 18, but only for the first 28 hours in a week while school is in session, plus all regular hours during a school break.

Alberta does not index its minimum wage and no increase is announced. The rate has been $15.00 since 1 October 2018, which now makes it the lowest general minimum wage in Canada. The student rate applies only to the first 28 hours worked in a week while school is in session — hours past 28 in that week must be paid $15.00 — and to all regular hours during a school break. It does not apply to under-18s who are not in school. Deductions for room and board are capped at $3.35 per meal consumed and $4.41 per day’s lodging.

Hours past 28 in a school week must be paid $15.00. An under-18 who is not attending school gets $15.00 for all hours.
Does Alberta pay salespeople by the hour?
Not always. Certain salespersons, land agents and listed professionals have a weekly minimum of $598 rather than an hourly rate, and a live-in domestic employee has a monthly minimum of $2,848.
Those figures are paid in full regardless of the hours worked, so an hourly projection of them is not meaningful. The calculator on this page covers the hourly rates only.
Can my employer deduct room and board in Alberta?
Only up to prescribed maximums, and only for what is actually provided: $3.35 per meal consumed and $4.41 per day’s lodging.
Meals not eaten cannot be deducted, and no deduction can take the employee below minimum wage by more than those amounts.
