Above 500 g, Canada Post's Lettermail rate table stops entirely and the item needs a parcel rate instead — use Canada Post's own rate finder for that.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a stamp in Canada right now?
For a standard letter up to 30 g mailed within Canada: $1.44 if you buy a single stamp, or $1.24 per stamp if you buy a booklet or coil. Both prices exclude tax.
Why is there a discount for buying a booklet?
Canada Post prices its Permanent™ domestic stamp lower per-stamp when sold in a booklet or coil of several stamps versus as a single stamp. This is the only weight tier on Canada Post's rate page where the two prices differ — every other tier (30–50 g domestic, and every U.S./international tier) has one price regardless of how the postage was purchased.
What counts as "standard size" versus "oversize"?
Canada Post's own distinction: standard size covers ordinary letter envelopes, postcards and standard cards. Oversize/non-standard covers large documents, oversize envelopes and heavy cards — items that don't fit a normal envelope even if they weigh the same as a standard letter.
What if my item is over 500 g?
Canada Post's Lettermail rate table doesn't go past 500 g at all — heavier items are priced as a parcel instead, using a different calculator entirely. This tool won't guess a Lettermail price above that weight.
Rates exclude tax and can change
These are Canada Post's own published Lettermail rates as read directly from their site on the verification date above, before tax. Canada Post states its own prices are "subject to change without notice" — confirm at a postal outlet or on canadapost-postescanada.ca before relying on an exact figure for postage due, insurance, or tracked/registered add-ons (none of which are modelled here).
