Manitoba PHIN format check.
The Manitoba PHIN is a nine-digit Personal Health Identification Number. It is not the six-character family registration number printed on the same card. Check the shape here; there is no published check digit.
Short answer: The PHIN is nine digits. Manitoba Health cards carry it next to a separate six-character registration number (new cards can show a letter, for example A12345), so do not mix the two up.

PHIN versus registration number
Manitoba's health card page says the card shows the cardholder's name, a six-digit registration number, the Personal Health Identification Number (PHIN), birthdate and official language. Since March 1, 2024 the six-digit registration numbers on cards can include one alphanumeric character, for example A12345. The online form labels the PHIN field "nine digits" and the registration number field "six-digit alphanumeric".
What this page checks
Length and digits only. Manitoba does not publish a check-digit rule for the PHIN in the pages cited here, so none is implemented.
Treat it as personal health information
A PHIN identifies you in the health system. This page processes what you type locally and never sends it anywhere, but avoid pasting real numbers into any site you do not need to.

Frequently asked questions
How many digits is a Manitoba PHIN?
Nine. Manitoba Health's online forms label the field "Personal Health Identification Number (PHIN - nine digits)".
Is the PHIN the same as the Manitoba registration number?
No. The registration number is a separate six-character number, which on newer cards can include one letter such as A12345. The PHIN is the nine-digit number.
Does the Manitoba PHIN have a check digit?
No check-digit rule is published in the Manitoba sources this page cites, so only length and digits are checked.
Can this tell me if a PHIN is real?
No. It checks shape only and never contacts Manitoba Health.
Format check only — not a verification
This page checks the shape of a number only. It does not query, copy or proxy any provincial register, cannot confirm that a number was issued, belongs to anyone or is current, and does not verify identity or coverage. Anything you type stays in your browser. Rules change, so confirm against the sources cited above before relying on it.
