Ontario property PIN checker.

Check that a property identification number has the right 9-digit shape and see its block and property parts, then search it on ONLAND.

Important, up front: no public check digit exists for an Ontario PIN, so this only confirms the shape. A PIN is not the same as an MPAC assessment roll number.

What a PIN is

The ONLAND glossary defines the Property Information Number as a unique nine-digit number assigned to each property, consisting of a five-digit block number and a four-digit property number. ONLAND's help also notes that the block number is the first five digits of the PIN, which is what you enter to view a map area.

Searching on ONLAND

ONLAND's Property Search lets you search by PIN, street address, instrument registration number or map. For a PIN search you choose the Land Registry Office, pick Property, select PIN or PIN Range, and enter your name in the Requested By field. ONLAND says viewing a map is a paid action; see its payment and pricing page for current fees.

PIN versus roll number

A PIN identifies a parcel in the land registry. MPAC assigns a separate 19-digit assessment roll number for property tax; see the MPAC roll number checker.

Frequently asked questions

What does an Ontario PIN look like?

Nine digits: a five-digit block number then a four-digit property number, commonly written with a hyphen.

Where do I find my PIN?

The ONLAND Property Search accepts a street address, so you can search by address to find the PIN.

Is a PIN the same as the roll number on my tax bill?

No. The roll number is MPAC's 19-digit assessment identifier.

Does this check that the PIN exists?

No. Only a search on ONLAND can show that.

Guide only — not an official lookup

Format check only; a valid shape does not prove a PIN exists. This page does not query any government or municipal system and is not affiliated with one; nothing you type is transmitted anywhere. Always confirm on the official service linked above.
