How the dates are worked out

Days to go is your goal minus your current streak. The goal date counts forward from today if you have not done it yet today, or from tomorrow if you already have. Milestones are the next five of 7, 14, 21, 30, 50, 66, 100, 200, 365, 500 and 1,000 days above where you are. With minutes per session, total time is minutes times days, shown in hours.

Worked example. A 10 day streak that includes today, goal 30 days, 15 minutes a day. 20 days to go, so the goal date is 20 days from today. At goal you will have practised 30 × 15 = 450 minutes, which is 7.5 hours; so far 2.5 hours.

This is calendar arithmetic only and uses no outside data. For research on how long a habit takes to form, see the habit formation calculator.

FAQ

How do I work out the date I reach a streak goal?

Add the days still to go to today, counting today only if you have not yet done it. The calculator does this for you and lists the dates of the next milestones.

Does a missed day reset my streak?

That depends on your app or your own rules. This tool assumes the streak continues unbroken from today. If you miss a day, enter 0 and start again.

How many hours is a 100 day meditation streak?

Multiply minutes a day by 100 and divide by 60. At 10 minutes a day it is 1,000 minutes, about 16.7 hours.

Why 66 as a milestone?

66 days is the average time to reach automaticity in a 2010 habit study. It is an average, not a guarantee.

Is my streak saved?

No. Nothing is stored or sent. Enter your numbers each time.
