Wig density to bundles.

Turn a wig density (150, 180, 200, 250 and so on) and a length into an estimated number of bundles. Density has no standard, so this is a rough guide. Runs in your browser.

Worked example

A 180% wig anchors at 3.5 bundles for 14 to 16 inches and 4.5 bundles for 24 to 26 inches. For a 250% wig at 16 inches the tool computes 3.5 x 250 / 180 = 4.86 bundles, so buy 5, about 486 g at 100 g a bundle. For a 200% wig at 20 inches the 180% figure is 4.0, so 4.0 x 200 / 180 = 4.44 bundles, buy 5.

How it works

Store guides quoted by Curl Centric put a 180% wig at about 3.5 bundles for 14 to 16 inches and 4.5 bundles for 24 to 26 inches, and Hermosa Hair suggests 3.5 to 4. The tool uses 3.5 bundles up to 16 inches, 4.5 from 24 inches, and a straight line between. It then scales that figure in proportion to density / 180.

The proportional scaling is our own simplifying assumption, not a published formula. Wig density is not standardised: some stores treat 100% as an average head of hair, others 120% or 130%, so use the result to compare wigs from the same store. Bundle counts here are for building a wig from bundles. A ready-made 180% wig at 16 to 18 inches is listed at about 200 to 300 g in total, and that weight includes the cap and lace, so do not compare grams one to one.

Checked 2026-10-15. Curl Centric: What Does 180 Density Wig Mean? How Full a 180% Wig Looks: no wig density standard; stores set their own scale; a bundle usually weighs about 100 g; store guides for a 180% wig range from about two to four and a half bundles; Hermosa Hair 3.5 to 4 bundles; Lyn Hair about 3.5 bundles for 14 to 16 inches and 4.5 for 24 to 26 inches; ready-made 180% wigs weigh about 200 to 300 g at 16 to 18 inches. The scaling to other densities is our assumption.

FAQ

250 density wig is how many bundles?

By this tool, a 250 percent wig is about 4.9 bundles at 16 inches, so buy 5, and about 6.25 bundles at 24 inches, so buy 7. The proportional scaling is our assumption, because stores publish no standard.

180 density wig is how many bundles?

Curl Centric reports store guides for a 180 percent wig from about 2 to 4.5 bundles. Hermosa Hair suggests 3.5 to 4, and Lyn Hair suggests about 3.5 at 14 to 16 inches and 4.5 at 24 to 26 inches.

200 density wig is how many bundles?

This tool estimates about 3.9 bundles at 16 inches (buy 4) and 5 bundles at 24 inches. It scales the 180 percent store figures by 200 divided by 180, which is our assumption.

150 density wig is how many bundles?

This tool estimates about 2.9 bundles at 16 inches, so buy 3. That is the 180 percent figure of 3.5 scaled by 150 divided by 180.

Is wig density a standard measurement?

No. Curl Centric notes that each store sets its own scale, and some stores call 100 percent an average head while others use 120 or 130 percent. Compare wigs from the same store.
