Travel Calculators
Time difference between cities.
Choose two cities, a date and a time. See how many hours apart they are on that date and what the clock reads in the second city. Daylight saving is applied for the date you pick, so the gap can change during the year. Runs in your browser.

Worked example
Toronto 09:00 on 10 November 2026 (UTC-05:00) is 14:00 in London (UTC+00:00): a 5 h difference. Pick 15 March 2026 instead and the same 09:00 Toronto time is 13:00 in London, a 4 h gap, because North America has moved to daylight time (8 March) while the UK has not yet (29 March).
How it works
The first city's wall-clock time is converted to UTC with that city's rules for the date, then to the second city's wall-clock time. Difference = offset(city B) - offset(city A) on that date. The difference between two places is not constant: it changes when either place starts or ends daylight saving, and some places (such as Phoenix, Mumbai and Tokyo) never change.
The city list covers common travel and business hubs. A city shares its rules with other places in the same zone.
Sources and basis (checked 2026-10-05): IANA Time Zone Database via the browser Intl API (rules applied for the date you enter); arithmetic on the numbers you enter.
FAQ
How do I calculate the time difference between two cities?
Subtract the UTC offsets of the two places for the date in question. This tool does it for you and shows the converted time.
Why does the difference change during the year?
Daylight saving starts and ends on different dates in different countries, so the gap can be an hour larger or smaller for a few weeks each spring and autumn.
Which city is ahead?
The result says it in words, for example "London is 5 h ahead of Toronto".
What does a half-hour difference mean?
Some zones, such as India (UTC+05:30) and Newfoundland (UTC-03:30 in standard time), are offset by 30 minutes, so the gap to them is a half hour more or less.
Is this the same as a meeting planner?
No. This answers "what time is it there when it is this time here". To find an overlap in working hours across several places, use the meeting planner.
