Wellness studio business

Membership vs drop-in.

Enter the studio prices and how many classes you take in a month. See which option costs least and how many classes make a membership worth it.

Membership pays off once classes x per-class price reaches the monthly fee. At $25 drop-in, a 10-class pack for $200 ($20 each) and $110 a month for membership, six classes cost $150, $120 or $110: membership wins from 5 classes against drop-in and 6 against the pack.

Worked example

Drop-in is $25, so six classes cost $150. A $200 pack of 10 is $20 a class, so six cost $120. A $110 membership costs $110 whatever you attend. At six classes membership is the cheapest and saves $10 a month against the pack and $40 against drop-in. Break-even against drop-in is $110 / $25 = 4.4, so 5 classes; against the pack it is $110 / $20 = 5.5, so 6 classes.

How it works

Drop-in cost = classes x drop-in price. Pack cost = classes x (pack price / pack size). Membership cost = the monthly fee. The break-even number of classes is the fee divided by the per-class price, rounded up.

This compares price only. Packs usually expire and memberships usually renew automatically; check expiry, freeze and cancellation terms with the studio before you decide.

If you own a studio, see how unused classes change the real price of a pack in the Class Pack Breakage Calculator.

Sources and basis (checked 2026-10-08): arithmetic on the numbers you enter. No outside data or published rate is used, so every default is a placeholder to replace with your own. This is a planning estimate, not accounting, legal or tax advice.

FAQ

Is a studio membership worth it?

It is worth it if you take at least as many classes a month as the fee divided by the per-class price. At $110 a month and $25 drop-in that is 5 classes.

Is a class pack cheaper than an unlimited membership?

Per class, yes when the pack price per class is lower than the membership fee divided by your classes. Use the break-even number shown above.

What if the pack expires before I use it?

Then your real price per class is higher than the pack price divided by its size. Count only the classes you will actually use before it expires.

Does this include intro offers or taxes?

No. Enter prices exactly as you would pay them, with tax included if you want tax counted.
