Affiliate earnings per click.

Enter the clicks your affiliate links received and what they earned. See EPC, conversion rate, profit against a paid CPC and clicks needed for an income goal.

EPC = total earnings / number of clicks. $540 of commissions from 1,200 clicks is an EPC of $0.45, or $45 per 100 clicks.

Worked example

1,200 clicks earned $540 from 18 sales. EPC = 540 / 1,200 = $0.45, which is $45 per 100 clicks. The conversion rate is 18 / 1,200 = 1.5% and the average sale earned $30. If you paid $0.30 per click for that traffic, each click returned $0.15 after cost, $180 in total. To earn $1,000 at this EPC you need $1,000 / 0.45 = 2,222.2, rounded up to 2,223 clicks.

How it works

EPC = total earnings / number of clicks. Shopify gives the formula as affiliate earnings per click = total earnings / number of clicks, and says EPC compares what an affiliate link earns with the average cost per click.

EPC minus paid CPC shows whether buying traffic for the link paid off on these numbers. Earnings must be the same period and the same links as the clicks, or the ratio is meaningless.

Clicks for a goal = goal / EPC, rounded up. It assumes the EPC stays the same as traffic grows, which often does not hold for new audiences.

Use confirmed or approved earnings if programs reverse commissions; pending earnings can overstate EPC.

FAQ

How do I calculate EPC?

Divide the total affiliate earnings by the number of clicks on the links that earned them. $540 over 1,200 clicks is $0.45.

What is a good EPC?

It depends on the program and traffic source. A useful test is whether your EPC is above what a click costs you if you are paying for traffic.

Is EPC the same as conversion rate?

No. Conversion rate is sales divided by clicks. EPC also reflects how much each sale earns.

Should I use pending commissions?

Prefer approved earnings if a program can reverse commissions, because pending amounts can make EPC look higher than what you keep.
