EAN-13 to UPC-A converter.

When an EAN-13 has a UPC-A
GS1 says leading zeros that pad a shorter GTIN do not change its value. That means only an EAN-13 whose first digit is 0 can be written as a 12-digit UPC-A: drop the zero and keep the rest, check digit included.
An EAN-13 beginning 1 to 9 (for example 4006381333931) has no 12-digit form. It must stay an EAN-13. Forcing it into 12 digits by cutting a digit produces a different, invalid number.
What it does not do
It does not check ownership or registration. If you are going the other way, use the UPC to EAN-13 converter.

Frequently asked questions
Can every EAN-13 be converted to a UPC?
No. Only an EAN-13 that begins with 0 has a UPC-A equivalent. One that begins with any other digit has no 12-digit form.
Do I recalculate the check digit?
No. Removing a leading zero leaves the GS1 mod-10 check digit unchanged, and this tool verifies it before converting.
My EAN-13 starts with 0 but my scanner reads a different UPC. Why?
Check for a typo; the tool flags a wrong check digit. A correct EAN-13 starting with 0 always maps to the UPC-A made from its last 12 digits.
What about EAN-8?
An EAN-8 is a separate 8-digit GTIN-8 with its own number space. It does not convert to a UPC-A.
