2026 Roth IRA phase-out bands

For joint returns, the contribution phases out from $242,000 to $252,000 of modified AGI. For single, head-of-household and qualifying married-filing-separately cases where the spouse was not lived with, the band is $153,000 to $168,000. For married filing separately after living with a spouse, the band is $0 to $10,000.

This estimate applies the IRS worksheet's gradual reduction and rounds the result up to the next $10. It does not calculate a backdoor Roth, recharacterization, excess-contribution correction, or the definition of modified AGI.
