Who uses estimated tax?

Estimated tax is generally used for income that does not have enough withholding, such as self-employment income, interest, dividends, rent and some other taxable income. Your actual filing situation may use different rules, including fiscal-year dates, special disaster relief, or a different required-payment method.

Reference only

This is a date reference, not a determination that you owe estimated tax or that your payment is sufficient. Check IRS.gov for weekend, holiday, fiscal-year and disaster-relief adjustments before paying.
