Look up an NDC

Use a hyphenated 10-digit NDC or an 11-digit code. Hyphens show which segment is padded.

This lookup sends the NDC you enter to the FDA (api.fda.gov) through TNAADO's lookup service to fetch the record. TNAADO does not store it.

The request is proxied server-side and cached briefly. No account is required.

How 10-digit to 11-digit NDC conversion works

The FDA's 10-digit NDC is commonly written in one of three segment patterns: 4-4-2, 5-3-2 or 5-4-1. The 11-digit HIPAA/NCPDP format pads the labeler, product or package segment with a zero so every code is 5-4-2. This tool preserves your hyphenated input and shows the normalized 11-digit value.

An NDC listing identifies a submitted product and package. Inclusion in the FDA NDC Directory does not by itself mean FDA approval, clinical suitability, reimbursement eligibility or that the listing is current for a particular pharmacy.

Not medical advice

Do not use this lookup to start, stop or change a medicine. Confirm medication identity, strength and instructions with a pharmacist or clinician. The directory is supplied by labelers and can contain errors or stale listings. Read openFDA's responsible-use notice.
