CRA tax instalment due dates.

Pick a year to see when each personal income tax instalment is due and the day a payment is actually on time if the date falls on a weekend.

Most individuals pay on March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15. If a date falls on a weekend or public holiday, a payment received on the next business day is on time. Farmers and fishers pay once, by December 31.

How the dates work

CRA says most individuals who have to pay instalments for a year pay by March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15. If a due date falls on a weekend or a CRA-recognized public holiday, CRA treats the payment as on time if it is received on the next business day. None of the four regular dates is a statutory holiday, so only weekends move them.

Farmers and fishers whose main income is from farming or fishing have a single instalment due December 31, and CRA sends a reminder in November. If December 31 falls on a weekend this page moves it past New Year’s Day and its Monday observance; that carry-over is an assumption, not CRA wording, so confirm it on CRA’s page. Instalments due on or after the date of death do not have to be paid.

This tool only gives dates. To find out whether you must pay instalments and how much, use the Income Tax Instalment Calculator (the $3,000 rule), and for the cost of paying late use the Instalment Interest & Penalty Calculator. Quebec residents also have Revenu Québec instalments, which this tool does not cover.
