What comes off a New Brunswick paycheque
- Federal income tax — 2026 brackets from 14%, basic personal amount of $16,452 phasing down to $14,829, plus the Canada Employment Amount of $1,501.
- New Brunswick income tax — 9.4% to $52,333, 14% to $104,666, 16% to $193,861, then 19.5%; basic personal amount $13,664.
- CPP — 5.95% of earnings between $3,500 and $74,600, plus CPP2 at 4% up to $85,000.
- EI — 1.63% of insurable earnings up to $68,900.
The jump from 9.4% to 14% at $52,333 is the one to watch: it is a 4.6-point step, so a raise that crosses it is taxed more heavily than the same raise in Saskatchewan. The 14% bracket then runs to $104,666, which covers most professional salaries.

CPP and EI in 2026
These are federal and the same in New Brunswick as in every province outside Quebec.
- CPP: maximum employee contribution $4,230.45, plus CPP2 maximum $416.00.
- EI: maximum employee premium $1,123.07 on insurable earnings up to $68,900.
Both stop once the annual ceiling is reached, so take-home pay rises for higher earners later in the year.
How this is calculated
The numbers follow CRA’s T4127 Payroll Deductions Formulas. It assumes a full year at a constant salary and TD1 claim code 1: the basic personal amount and nothing else. If you claim other TD1 credits, or your employer takes pension contributions, union dues or group benefits, your real cheque will differ. New Brunswick also has a labour-sponsored funds credit (factor LCP, up to $2,000 a year). This page does not model it.
