Promoter pay

Door split calculator.

Enter the door, the costs that come off first and the venue share. See the promoter share both ways: after costs and on gross.

Promoter share = (1 - venue share) x (door - costs). A $3,000.00 door, $600.00 of costs and a 70% venue share leaves $2,400.00 to split and a promoter share of $720.00.

Worked example

The door takes $3,000.00. Door staff and security cost $600.00, taken off before the split. The pool is $2,400.00. The venue keeps 70% = $1,680.00 and the promoter keeps 30% = $720.00, which is 24% of the door and $6.00 per paying guest across 120 guests. Splitting the gross instead would give the promoter $900.00, which is only fair to compare if the costs fall on the venue in that version of the deal.

How the calculation works

Net door = door takings - costs, never below zero. Promoter share = (1 - venue share) x net door. On the gross toggle, the pool is the whole door and the costs you entered are not shared; they stay with whoever pays them under your deal. Effective share = promoter share / door takings. Per guest = promoter share / paying guests.

Gross or after costs

Which costs come off, who approves them and when they are proven are the details that move this number. A split after unspecified costs can shrink the pool without anyone changing the percentage. Ask for a costs list, a cap or a fixed deduction in writing. The commission explainer covers gross versus net more generally.

Edge cases

If costs are higher than the door, the pool is floored at $0, the promoter share is $0 and a warning appears. The page does not assume costs carry over to the next night or are charged back to anyone; your deal decides. A venue share above 100% is capped at 100%. Zero door takings returns a prompt.

What this does not cover

This page does not cover: minimum payments owed regardless of the door, bar splits, table or bottle-service splits, sponsorship income, tax collected at the door, card fees, comps and guest-list entries that did not pay. It also does not tell you what a fair rate is, what any venue or platform actually pays, or what your results will be. Results vary night to night and deal to deal, and the model only does arithmetic on the assumptions you enter.

FAQ

How does a door split work?

The money collected at the door is divided between venue and promoter by an agreed percentage, usually after agreed costs are taken off.

Is the split on gross or net?

Either can appear in a deal. The calculator shows both so you can see the difference.

What if the costs are more than the door?

The pool is floored at zero here, with a warning. Whether the shortfall is carried or charged is a contract term this tool does not assume.

Is 70/30 normal?

The page uses 70% only as an example and does not claim any standard split.
