Church Tithe Calculator: how it works
Giving = the income base x your percentage. The base is gross income, or net income (gross minus the deductions you enter) if you choose net. Yearly giving = giving per pay period x pay periods per year (12, 24, 26 or 52). The percentage is entirely your choice; 10% is only the starting value.
Worked example. On $4,500.00 a month gross at 10%, giving is $450.00 a month, $5,400.00 a year, about $103.85 a week. If you give on net pay after $900.00 of deductions, the base is $3,600.00 and giving is $360.00 a month (8.0% of gross).
Your congregation or conscience decides. Traditions differ on gross versus net and on the percentage. This calculator only does the arithmetic for whichever you choose.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a tithe?
Multiply your income by your percentage. 10% of $4,500.00 is $450.00.
Is a tithe on gross or net income?
Traditions differ, so the calculator offers both. Gross uses pay before deductions; net uses pay after the deductions you enter.
Can I use a percentage other than 10%?
Yes. Type any percentage from 0 to 100, including decimals such as 2.5.
How much is that per week or year?
At $450.00 a month, giving is $5,400.00 a year and about $103.85 a week.
