How it works
- Model: each pixel is gamma-decoded to linear RGB, converted to LMS cone-response space, projected onto the dichromat's surviving confusion plane, then converted back to sRGB — the method described in Viénot, Brettel & Mollon, “Digital Video Colourmaps for Checking the Legibility of Displays by Dichromats,” IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 5(3), 249–253 (1999).
- Protanopia — missing long-wavelength (L, “red”) cones.
- Deuteranopia — missing medium-wavelength (M, “green”) cones. The most common form.
- Tritanopia — missing short-wavelength (S, “blue”) cones. Rare.
- Everything runs on-device with the Canvas API — no image or color you enter ever leaves your browser.
